# Community Identity

> Your church appears under a generated pseudonym. Revealing the real church name is an explicit opt-in.

Attribution on a published item is always the **church** profile. The display name defaults to a generated pseudonym (for example **Cedar Hill Worship**), not the organization's legal name. Revealing the real church name is an explicit opt-in. Coarse facets only: language, region (never a city), tradition, and congregation size.

</Frame>

## Quick Start

1. Open **Community** → **Identity** (admins also see a banner on **Home**).
2. Choose language, region, tradition, and size, then click **Join with this identity**.
3. Optionally add a personal handle. Leave **Show this handle on publications** off unless you want it on catalog items later.

## How-to Guide

### What other churches see

They see the church display name and facets — never a person's name. Inside your own church, admins still see who published what.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Join as an admin">
    Only a tenant admin can join. Until then, nobody in the church can publish to the catalog.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Keep the pseudonym unless you opt in">
    **Show our real church name** is off by default. Turn it on only if you want catalog items to use your church's name.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add an optional handle">
    Handles are yours, not the church's. They stay inside your church unless you turn on **Show this handle on publications**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  Existing Coordinator community shares currently show the real church name. Moving those items onto this identity is a later migration.
